After the departure of Marcus Thuram, Borussia Mönchengladbach upgraded to the center forward position. Attacker Tomas Cvancara is moving from the Czech champions Sparta Prague to the Lower Rhine, as the foals announced on Friday.
The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract until June 30, 2028.
Already on Thursday the table football and the Czech specialist magazine Sport unanimously reported on the imminent agreement of the two clubs. Accordingly, the Czech national player left Sparta’s training camp in Austria early, and now the last details have been clarified.
“Tomas is a dangerous striker and also has a lot of speed,” said Gladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus: “He’s a very ambitious player and really wanted to go to Borussia.”
Cvancara made a significant contribution to Sparta’s title win last season, scoring 12 goals in 24 league games. In March, the 1.90m tall center forward made his international debut against Poland (3-1), needing just three minutes to score his first goal for the Czech senior team.
