Sven Mislintat probably shortly before signing at Ajax Amsterdam

In November 2022, Sven Mislintat had to leave VfB Stuttgart. Since then, the bottom of the table in the Bundesliga has really crashed. The former sports director of the Swabians, on the other hand, could soon be working in the Champions League. According to consistent media reports, Mislintat is about to sign at Ajax Amsterdam.

The 50-year-old Mislintat is to take over the post of technical director at the Dutch record champions and regular Champions League participants. After a series of good talks, only the final details remain to be clarified, reports Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg. Had previously De Telegraaf reported on the interest of Ajax.

Julian Ward, currently Sportdirekt at Liverpool FC, where he will stop at his own request at the end of the season, is said to have canceled Ajax.

Before his two and a half years at VfB Stuttgart, Mislintat headed the scouting department of Premier League top club Arsenal from December 2017 to February 2019. Mislintat began his career in professional football at Borussia Dortmund, where he most recently worked as chief scout and head of professional football.

Mislintat is considered one of the best talent discoverers in the world and has earned the nickname “Diamond Eye”. He was responsible for the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Bender twins Sven and Lars, Ousmane Dembélé and Shinji Kagawa, among others. Mislintat is also co-founder of a data start-up.

Dutchman Gerry Hamstra currently holds the post of technical director at Ajax Amsterdam.
