Tanguy Nianzou is moving to Sevilla FC

FC Bayern Munich has given defending talent Tanguy Nianzou to FC Sevilla and secured a “return option”. The Munich announced on Wednesday. The 20-year-old central defender signed a five-year contract with the Andalusians and, according to Bayern media reports, brings a transfer fee of around 16 million euros.

“We wanted to give him the chance of more playing time in this phase of his career. We will monitor Tanguy’s development closely because FC Bayern has the option of bringing him back to Munich,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić.

Noisy Sky sports the record champions have both a buyback option and a “matching right” that obliges FC Sevilla to inform Munich about any offer.

As the picture-Zeitung explains, this clause is also related to a resale participation that Bavaria is said to have secured. If Salihamidžić and Co. do not make use of the buyback option and the Frenchman switches to a third party, FC Bayern will receive 22.5 percent of the transfer fee.

Thanks to the matching right, the German series champion can also benefit if a club offers less than the fixed price now set in the negotiations. Then Bayern could bring the defender back for the sum offered. It would be worthwhile for Seville because then the resale participation would no longer apply.

Nianzou moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Munich on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, but the French junior international was unable to assert himself on the heavily occupied defensive end. He made it to a total of 28 competitive games (one goal).
