The contract extension with Niklas Süle allegedly failed because of this

According to information from SPOX and GOAL, Niklas Süle will leave FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer.

According to information from SPOX and GOAL, Niklas Süle will leave FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer. According to media reports, the central defender decided against extending the contract not only because of the different ideas about salary.

Süle had reportedly rejected a contract offer of ten million euros. With the most recent contract extensions for Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman, the FCB managers had shown significantly more willingness to provide a top performer with a significant salary increase.

President Herbert Hainer announced last Sunday that the negotiations would still be ongoing, although he should have already been informed about the decision. That surprised Süle and strengthened his thoughts of wanting to leave the club again.

But the crucial point was something else. The 26-year-old has reportedly lacked appreciation for his achievements in recent years.

“I know what I have in the club. But I also know that such decisions are always about trust – about my trust in the club, but above all vice versa,” said Süle to that effect in October Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Süle has already criticized the handling of his person

Süle was also criticized both internally and publicly. In March of last year he had taken a position on the matter. “Being warned for a goal like that, no matter by whom, that bothers me,” said Süle at the time in relation to the 1-2 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. Among other things, former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge blamed him for Amin Younes’ second goal.

If Süle does “a dirty game” and “it gets written, then I’m the first to say: rightly so. But I don’t have to let everything be chalked up – and leave it uncommented.” During this period, Süle was also criticized for his weight, which is why he is said to have been removed from the squad in the meantime.

Meanwhile, Süle is flirting with a move to the Premier League. Chelsea and Newcastle United are said to be interested. FC Barcelona are also rumored to be working on a commitment.

FC Bayern: Will Christensen come as a replacement?

Süle joined Bayern from 1899 Hoffenheim in 2017, when FCB paid around 20 million euros. In Munich he has played 158 competitive games (13 goals).

In the current season, Süle has made 25 appearances, only in four competitive games has he not been used. He was absent twice in November due to a corona disease.

According to information from SPOX and GOAL already have their sights set on a potential replacement: Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, who has already played for Gladbach in the Bundesliga and is also on a free transfer this summer.
