"Then it'll be cleaned up!" Torsten Frings expects upheaval in Munich

Former national player Torsten Frings expects a change in the record champions after FC Bayern’s possibly untitled season. “You know that from the past, when Bayern wasn’t successful. Then it’s cleaned up afterwards and everything is questioned,” said Frings in an interview skysport.de.

Bayern would “spend a lot of money this summer. I’m 100 percent sure that an absolute top striker will be signed. He will have proven that he can score goals without end,” said Frings.

The 46-year-old also expects reinforcements in midfield and in defence: “I believe that more experience will come.”

Frings sees a need to catch up, especially in attack. The departure of top scorer Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona last summer was not adequately compensated.

“Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting stepped in at times, but he’s not of the caliber of Lewandowski. I think that’s what Bayern missed the most: someone who scores the decisive goal in tight games and is on the spot,” said Frings .

Frings: BVB have “done their thing”

A championship from Borussia Dortmund would not be undeserved for Frings, who played for Bayern and BVB during his active career.

“They did their thing and then coldly exploited this phase of weakness, which is certainly not normal for FC Bayern,” said Frings.

Frings does not believe that Dortmund will lose the two-point lead on the last day of the game. “Especially because they play at home. They will be pushed so hard, but they have to be careful not to overpace. But the way the boys are doing right now, I don’t think they’re going to let anything go,” he said.
