Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig: Bundesliga NOW in the live ticker – before the start

Before start: What matters today? Union has a strong defense, the Berliners only conceded one goal. So Leipzig has to find quick ways forward to put the hosts under pressure – and above all to scratch their self-confidence. A factor could of course be national player Timo Werner, who can certainly make the difference in the RB attack. Union will again rely on a cohesive team performance – that goes for front and back, of course.

Before start: Last year’s fourth-placed Leipzig is not satisfied with the start of the season – two points from two games. The situation is different for the Unioners, who finished the previous season in 5th place – and who can climb to the top with a win tonight. So far, coach Urs Fischer’s team has four points.

Before start: The focus for the Saxons today is keeper Janis Blaswich. The newcomer from Heracles Almelo celebrates his Bundesliga debut at the age of 31 because RB goalkeeper Gulacsi has to sit out injured. There are other changes after the 2-2 win against Köln: Gvardiol defends instead of Halstenberg (bench), Laimer and Kampl play in midfield instead of Szoboszlai (red suspension) and Novoa (bench). Poulsen and Klostermann are missing from the squad due to injuries.

Before start: With Christopher Trimmel and Andras Schäfer, the hosts have two new midfielders after the 0-0 draw in Mainz last weekend – Niko Gießelmann and Geni Haraguchi are back on the bench.

Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig: The lineups

However, the Saxons do not face an easy opponent with Union Berlin. The Irons, who also play in Europe (Europa League), have four points and are fifth before Saturday’s games.
