A sexist banner caused a stir in the fans of VfB Stuttgart during the game against Werder Bremen on Sunday. The club responded to the incident on Monday.
“VfB Stuttgart distances itself from this banner,” the club wrote on Twitter.
“This wording does not correspond to the style of VfB despite all understanding of stadium-typical fan rivalries. This was also discussed with the group that is the author of the banner on Sunday evening after the game,” VfB continued.
The banner that was shown during the game in the Swabian fans’ corner read: “What do Bremen and Freiburg have in common? Only F***** in the first 10 rows!”
