VfB Stuttgart mourns ex-professional “Buffy” Ettmayer

Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart mourns the loss of its former captain Johann “Buffy” Ettmayer. As the club announced, the former midfielder died on Saturday at the age of 76.
The Austrian had played for the Swabians from 1971 to 1975 and scored 34 goals in 97 appearances. On January 26, 1974, he carried himself with the 10,000th overall. goal in the Bundesliga also made its way into the history books, and the goal was also voted goal of the month.
Ettmayer was then active in the German elite league for Hamburger SV, with whom he won the European Cup and the DFB Cup, among other things. At the end of his career, the native of Vienna played in Germany in the lower division at Freiburger FC and at SV Göppingen.
