Bundesliga returnees Werder Bremen announce the first top-class signing for the coming season. The newcomer signed central defender Niklas Stark (27) on a free transfer. The two-time national player last played for Hertha BSC.
“Niklas has been in our field of vision for a long time. Now there’s an opportunity to convince him of Werder and bring him to the Weser,” said Bremen’s professional football manager Clemens Fritz. “With his 200 Bundesliga games, he brings a lot of experience with him.” Coach Ole Werner welcomed Stark as a “robust and technically good defensive player who has already experienced a lot in his career”.
Stark was U19 and U21 European Champion and has played for Hertha since 2015. “I had very good discussions with those responsible at Werder and I immediately had a good feeling. I want to help Werder establish itself in the Bundesliga again,” said he.
