After staying up in the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen has extended the contract with coach Ole Werner (35). The Hanseatic League did not provide any information about the term in a statement on Tuesday.
Werner took over Werder at the end of November 2021 and managed to get promoted with the Green-Whites, finishing 13th last season.
“With the promotion from the 2nd Bundesliga and staying up in the league in the past season, Ole Werner did an excellent job with his coaching team and the team,” said Frank Baumann, Managing Director Football in Bremen: “He has the team in a very difficult phase took over in winter 2021 and managed to form a successful unit with his clear idea of attractive and offensive football.With his style and his game idea, he played a major role in the fact that we, as a promoted team, managed to stay up on the penultimate matchday and so did we were never in a relegation zone during the season.”
Werner wants to move up step by step with Werder. “We are in the process of gradually building and developing a team in order to establish Werder in the Bundesliga in the long term,” he said: “I’m happy to take on this challenge because I also have the feeling that everyone in charge is pulling together and work together towards this goal.”
