Hansi Flick protects FC Bayern Munich regarding the transfer of Robert Lewandowski. “What should you have done?” asked the national coach in an interview with the FAZ: “Robert is unique in this position, maybe Erling Haaland still has this quality in front of goal.”
Accordingly, the loss of the top scorer could not be caught with a direct replacement. Julian Nagelsmann therefore relies on a variable solution. “It could be a little help that the players around play in the positions that they probably play with us,” said Flick.
Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry have good cards for a regular place in the national team. The national coach is not afraid of a form weakness of the Bayern stars. “They always create chances and that makes me very positive,” explained Flick: “After the third matchday everyone thought other teams didn’t have the slightest chance. Now they’re in a bit of a weak phase.”
Even Julian Nagelsmann’s job has already been discussed. “I’m a fan of the way he lets the team play football regardless of recent results,” admitted Flick. In the Nations League, the DFB will meet Hungary and England in the coming days.
