Whistle protest against Max Eberl who had emigrated in Leipzig

The Borussia Mönchengladbach fans who have traveled to Leipzig have announced that they want to boo their former official Max Eberl (2005 – 2022) and his new club on Saturday, in the truest sense of the word.

Both clubs meet in the Bundesliga from 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Gladbach ultra group “Sottocultura” called in advance to “stock up on whistles and smuggle them into the stadium.” In the first 19 minutes they want to organize a whistle concert with them and then support their own “traditional club”.

The former Mönchengladbacher and now Leipzig sports director Eberl was also described in the statement as a “character pig”. It is now known “that he was in contact with Red Bull long before his invented ‘illness’, which coincidentally and appropriately paved his way to Leipzig.”

The 49-year-old had recently emphasized several times that he suffered mentally from such insults. At the end of January 2022, Eberl had left his position at Borussia and made his depression public. He then joined Leipzig at the beginning of December 2022. During his time at Borussia, he had repeatedly criticized the Red Bull club.

Before the game, the Borussia management asked that the protests should remain “free of insults and discrimination”: “Emotions are part of football, everyone can say their opinion. But everything has to stay above the belt line. We also have that for our fans In other words, and that’s what we stand for as a club,” said sporting director Roland Virkus.
