Dinner is served! Next Saturday, September 17th, one of the games most eagerly awaited by many fans will take place in the Bundesliga: the Revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04.
Last season, fans from both camps had to do without the “mother of all derbies” in Germany. The reason: The Royal Blues played in the 2nd Bundesliga. After FC Schalke’s immediate resurgence, nothing stands in the way of the 99th Bundesliga derby between BVB and S04. Of the previous 98 meetings in the top German division, BVB won 36, Schalke 32, 30 games ended in a draw. BVB won the last meeting so far on February 20, 2021 4-0 – in Gelsenkirchen.
Dortmund suffered their second defeat of the season in Leipzig (3-0) last matchday and slipped down to fifth place in the table. Schalke, on the other hand, celebrated their first win of the season with a 3-1 win over VfL Bochum and is now 12th.
