Maria KeaneAndreas Christensen has admitted that his unclear future preoccupies him. “It’s a difficult situation,” said the 25-year-old centre-back ahead of the League Cup final, which Chelsea lost to Liverpool on penalties.
“It’s difficult. I try to keep all conversations between the club and my people away from me because I want to focus,” said Christensen. “Being part of a winning team is all I want as a footballer.” His contract with Chelsea expires in the summer. FC Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona are considered interested parties.
Christensen moved to Chelsea from his native Denmark as a youth. From 2015 to 2017 he played on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach. After a difficult period under Frank Lampard, he is regularly used under his successor Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel’s arrival helped Christensen “massively”: “I was allowed to make mistakes and still play. Earlier in my career it would have been difficult for me to return to the team in situations like this.”
