Antonio Cassano calls on Cristiano Ronaldo to resign

Former Italy international Antonio Cassano advises Cristiano Ronaldo to consider resigning.

“At this point Cristiano should love himself, do himself a favor and understand that if he doesn’t reach a good level anymore, he has to end his career. He’s won everything, he’s been a phenomenon. Now he has to end his career ‘ he said on the podcast show Mussio Selvaggio.

Cassano, who has long been a tough Ronaldo critic, also compared Ronaldo to Lionel Messi on the show. “I have a lot of respect for CR7 but I don’t like him as a player. Messi is like Maradona. He had to leave Argentina at the age of 14 and was struggling with serious physical problems,” said Cassano.

Ronaldo, who wanted to leave Manchester United in the summer to continue playing in the Champions League, is currently a wild card for the Red Devils. With the national team, he recently missed the final tournament of the Nations League.

Despite all his sporting worries, Ronaldo is not thinking of resigning at the moment. The 37-year-old recently announced that he wanted to play with Portugal at the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship as his ambition is still high.
