Chelsea FC is apparently working on a transfer offensive in the summer

In the winter transfer window that ended, Chelsea were mostly reticent. Apparently, there’s a reason: How The Athletic reported, the Blues want to start a transfer offensive next summer and guide several top players to Stamford Bridge.

According to Declan Rice (West Ham United, contract until 2024), Aurelien Tchouameni (AS Monaco, contract until 2024), Jules Kounde (FC Sevilla, contract until 2024), Eder Militao (Real Madrid, contract until 2025) and Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona, contract until 2022) has several top players on Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel’s wish list.

According to reports in the past few days, interest in Dembele in particular, with whom the 48-year-old had already worked in Dortmund, is said to be great. Shortly before the transfer window closed, there were rumors about a possible reunion between Dembele and his former BVB coach Tuchel.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta recently confirmed that there was contact with the Premier League and that a winter move was not far away: “Various solutions have been proposed, the last one depending on whether the player accepts it, namely to an English one club,” said the Barca president. Dembele have also already decided on a club in the summer.

In contrast to Dembele, whose contract expires in the summer and would therefore be available on a free transfer, the Blues would have to dig deeper into the pockets of the other players. Nevertheless, according to the report, Tuchel would like to sign at least two players for the starting XI.

Chelsea will probably lose Christensen and Rüdiger

Defensively, in particular, would have to be upgraded. The contracts of the two central defenders Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen are expiring, and it looks more like a farewell for both of them at the moment. At FC Bayern, the two defensive specialists are among the candidates to succeed Niklas Süle. There was also repeated speculation about Rüdiger moving to Real Madrid.

Kounde in particular has been linked to Chelsea on several occasions in the past. A transfer allegedly failed recently due to excessive demands from Seville.
