Crazy drama and CR7 hits! Manchester United beat West Ham thanks to Lingard

What a drama! Manchester United have won their third consecutive Premier League win against West Ham United. At 2-1, Cristiano Ronaldo scored again, but only a last-minute goal from Jesse Lingard, last season on loan from the Hammers, put the Red Devils on course for victory. West Ham missed a penalty deep in stoppage time.

By defeating the Hammers, United temporarily climbed to second place behind Liverpool. In the evening, Chelsea FC can still overtake with a win two goals behind in the top game against Tottenham (click here for the LIVETICKER).

Ronaldo had achieved the interim equalization for the Red Devils in the first round after submission by Bruno Fernandes with a direct acceptance by margin (35th). The Portuguese have scored in each of the three competitive games since his return to Manchester. The Hammers had previously taken the lead through Said Benrahma (30th).

It got dramatic shortly before the end. Substitute Lingard, who had played his way back into the atmosphere of the English national team with good performances in West Ham in the previous second half of the season, was cleared in the 89th minute in the penalty area and chased the ball dreamily into the right angle.

However, deep in stoppage time West Ham had another chance to equalize after a Yarmolenko cross jumped into Luke Shaw’s arm. The subsequent penalty was awarded by Mark Noble, who was only substituted in stoppage time, but David de Gea parried (90 + 5).

For the Spaniard it was the first saved penalty since April 2016. This was followed by 40 penalties for United and the Spanish national team, which he could not save. Among other things, de Gea became a tragic figure with his missed shot on penalties in the Europa League final against Villarreal.
