A lifelong Arsenal fan was buried in a Chelsea shirt after his surviving girlfriend was confused.
Like the niece of the deceased on Twitter revealed, the reason for the curious mix-up is said to have been that the Gunners fan’s surviving girlfriend mistook the Chelsea jersey for one of his heart club and handed it over to the undertaker.
The plan of the family was actually to bury the deceased in an Arsenal shirt.
“In her defence, it was a Chelsea away shirt from 2003 when Emirates was a sponsor,” wrote the deceased’s niece Twitter. “Someone must have bought it for him as a joke. Apparently they can’t change it now.”
The mood didn’t hurt the breakdown: “Honestly, that turned a very sad situation into a very funny one today.”
