Erling Haaland briefly slipped into the role of an ice cream seller at Manchester City’s wild treble celebration.
The owner of an ice cream truck told Opposite The Oldham Times: “Haaland came to me and said: ‘I want slush, but only the blue one” Then he says: ‘Let me in’ and I say: ‘Yes, come in.'”
Ejaz Azam explained that the Norwegian served ice cream and slush to “ten to 15” people. “And then he made his own ice cream with slush on top and said my ice cream was ‘amazing’.”
Azam had actually already closed his ice cream truck. “I was booked until 11pm but there were so many people that I couldn’t get out so I had to stop,” he said.
His companion finally made him aware of who was standing in front of him: “I said, ‘Oh no, no, no, no, come on, it’s open for you 24 hours a day, you can come anytime.'”
Haaland’s visit has already had a positive effect on his sales, says Azam overjoyed: “People who otherwise never go out for ice cream came to me, I had new customers who came to me and greeted me. To be honest, I’m with not reckoning with all that.”
