Erling Haaland voted England's Footballer of the Year

Special award for superstar Erling Haaland: The Norwegian top striker from leaders Manchester City has been voted Footballer of the Year by English journalists for his brilliant first season on the island.

Haaland received 82 percent of the votes, following Egyptian Mohamed Salah from Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC.

After moving from Borussia Dortmund to City last summer, Haaland shattered several records. In the Premier League, the Norwegian has scored 35 goals in 32 games so far, beating the previous bests of Andy Cole and Alan Shearer (both 34 goals).

Overall, the 22-year-old Haaland has 51 competitive goals for the Citizens, with which he still has chances of a triple of championship, Champions League and FA Cup.

The women’s award went to Chelsea’s Sam Kerr from Australia for the second time in a row.
