Loud The Athletic Al-Ittihad is ready to make Liverpool a €47m offer to secure the services of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho. The transfer could go ahead in a timely manner.
Should Fabinho leave the club, however, Liverpool will need a replacement. Despite considering Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as such, it is clear at Anfield that Chelsea are also interested in the Belgian.
Fabinho is under contract with Liverpool until 2026 and is considered a key player in Jürgen Klopp’s system. In the 2022/23 season he made 49 appearances.
Captain Jordan Henderson is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia where he could join ex-team-mate Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, which would further weaken Liverpool’s midfield resources.
Al-Ittihad have made the right move on the transfer market with the signings of N’Golo Kanté and ex-Real striker Karim Benzema, while Celtic’s Jota has recently been signed. Fabinho’s move would further strengthen the squad looking to defend their Saudi league title in the 2023/24 season.
