Fabio Carvalho's transfer failed on deadline day

The transfer of super talent Fabio Carvalho to Liverpool FC broke late on Deadline Day. The Reds agreed with Fulham FC about a transfer of the teenager and there was also an agreement with the 19-year-old himself. The deal failed according to information from SPOX and GOAL, however, because there was not enough time left to get it across the stage in time.

Liverpool and Fulham had agreed on a fee equivalent to 9.5 million euros, Carvalho should sign a five and a half year contract. He should also continue to play for the Cottagers on loan until the end of the season. However, after a medical check carried out in London at short notice, the parties did not manage to complete the paperwork before the transfer window closed.

Carvalho, England Under-18 international, is considered an outstanding talent on the island. He can play multiple positions in attacking midfield and on the wings and has made 18 league appearances for the Championship club this season. He scored seven goals.

Carvalho played for Benfica in his youth before moving to Fulham academy in 2014. In recent weeks, he has also been loosely linked to Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. He is also traded as a newcomer at Chelsea.

Whether Liverpool will try to sign Carvalho in the summer is an open question. After Colombia international Luis Diaz (Porto), he would have been the second big-name signing at Anfield this January.
