Maria KeaneDuring the broadcast of BBC For the FA Cup game between Liverpool FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the spectators suddenly heard groaning noises in the studio. The station was pranked by social media star Daniel Jarvis.
Jarvis, who goes by the social media moniker Jarvo69, had attached an audio device to the back of a studio wall at the stadium where England legend Gary Lineker was broadcasting. The device then emitted a loud groan during the transmission.
The distorted noise – apparently from a porn film – began when expert Alan Shearer was asked for his assessment just before kick-off on Tuesday night. When Shearer answered, the noises stopped, but as soon as Lineker spoke again, they came back.
Lineker himself later posted a photo of the device, commenting, “For sabotage, it was quite amusing.”
the BBC found the glitch less amusing and later apologized: “We apologize to any viewers who were offended during the live broadcast of football that night. We are investigating how that happened.”
