Hugo Lloris before leaving Tottenham Hotspur

After 11 years at the club, Hugo Lloris is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur. The English giants announced on Friday that the 2018 French world champions would not be making the team trip to Australia to “explore possible transfer options”.

The 36-year-old’s contract runs until the summer of 2024. In June, the AFP news agency reported that Saudi Arabian clubs were interested in Lloris.

Lloris moved to London from Olympique Lyon in August 2012. There he quickly became number one, but he did not win a title with the Spurs.

His probably last season for Tottenham was unfortunate: A knee injury suffered in February was tantamount to the end of the season.

Lloris was extremely successful with the national team: in 2018 in Russia he became world champion as a regular keeper, after losing the World Cup final four years later in Qatar he announced his retirement. With 145 appearances for France, he is the record international player.
