James Maddison is caught up with old tweets in which he speaks badly of Spurs and club legend Gareth Bale ahead of his imminent move to Tottenham. Loud Daily Mail the midfielder has now deleted the relevant postings.
The first tweet in question was on November 17, 2012. In it, then 15-year-old Maddison wrote: “I hate Gareth Bale passionately. Calm down you monkey. Wilshere is ten times better than you chimpanzee.”
In the second tweet, dated March 10, 2013, Maddison, now 16, made his dislike of Spurs clear. “I hope Luis Suárez destroys Tottenham today, I don’t like Spurs! Especially not this monkey everyone is talking about,” he alluded to Bale again. Suárez did score a goal against Tottenham that day, and the Uruguayan won 3-2 with Liverpool.
