Former Premier League defender Jamie Carragher has criticized Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester City.
“He may have really picked the wrong club to actually get the best out of himself,” said the former Liverpool defender Sky Sports. Manchester City is a “different team, a weaker team” with the Norwegian.
Although Haaland scored 25 league goals in 19 appearances this season, City made a weaker impression overall than in previous years. “Man City have scored as many goals as a team but they concede more and it’s a lot easier to counter against them.”
According to Carragher, this primarily has to do with the higher requirements of the Premier League. In contrast to England’s top division, the Bundesliga, from which Haaland switched to the Skyblues, is a “counter-league in which it goes from one end to the other. There you can see his breathtaking speed.”
Haaland switched from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City last summer for 60 million euros. There he scored 31 goals in 27 games in all competitions this season. He also prepared three more goals.
