Maria KeaneKai Havertz looked back on the messed-up season of his Chelsea FC and also commented on what he saw as a surprising first change of coach of the season. Thomas Tuchel had to leave the Blues in early September and was replaced by Graham Potter.
“The season actually started relatively quietly. We had a change of ownership, which was a big change for the whole club. And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which of course always makes a difference in a team like this when you’ve been successful with a coach and then fired out of nowhere,” Havertz said kickright.
But things didn’t go well at Chelsea either under Potter or under the new caretaker coach Frank Lampard. “Now we have our backs to the wall and not very well in the table. Of course it’s easy to find excuses. I’m not a fan of blaming everything else. At the end of the day, we’re all professional footballers and we have to be win a game,” said Havertz.
Chelsea are currently only twelfth in the Premier League and will in all likelihood miss out on qualifying for international business.
In the Champions League, the Blues made it to the quarter-finals, where they then lost to Real Madrid.
