Liverpool FC’s dream of successfully defending the FA Cup title has burst: The team of German team manager Jürgen Klopp failed in the round of 32.

Liverpool lost 2-1 (1-1) to Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion after conceding a goal in added time.

Liverpool had taken the lead through Harvey Elliott (30th). But Brighton, who had already beaten Klopp’s side 3-0 in the league in the middle of the month, hit back with Lewis Dunk (39′) and Kaoru Mitoma (90’+2′).

For Klopp’s team, the end is another setback in an already very complicated season. Liverpool had previously been eliminated in the League Cup, in the league the runners-up are in the gray middle field and are ten points behind a Champions League rank.
