The Reds will reshuffle their squad in the summer. A possible newcomer is attracting attention in Lisbon.
According to media reports, Liverpool FC is trying to get Manuel Ugarte (22) from Portuguese top club Sporting CP. According to transfer expert Bruno Andrade and Oh Jogo the Reds have already contacted Sporting about a transfer of the defensive midfielder in the summer.
Liverpool want to rebuild their midfield in the summer. Ugarte is considered a great talent and could inherit the 29-year-old Fabinho in the long term. Team manager Jürgen Klopp is said to be “impressed” by Ugarte’s skills.
However, an obligation of the legal foot would not be a favorable matter. Ugarte’s contract runs until 2026 and Sporting should insist on paying the stipulated transfer fee. This is 60 million euros.
Liverpool also have competition from the Premier League. Loud Oh Jogo Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Leeds United are also interested in Ugarte. Arsenal should also watch him after strong performances in the direct Europa League duel a few weeks ago.
Ugarte comes from the youth of CA Félix, where he made his breakthrough as a professional. At the beginning of 2021, Famalicão brought him to Europe for around four million euros. Six months later, Sporting signed him for seven million euros.
So far this season, Ugarte has played 43 competitive games in which he managed an assist. At the World Cup in Uruguay, the eight-time international was part of the Uruguay squad, but was not used.
