Former Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara will be absent from his club Liverpool for around six weeks. That reports The Athletic.
Thiago suffered a thigh muscle injury during Liverpool’s season opener at Fulham (2-2) on Saturday.
The game at Craven Cottage was over for him after just 50 minutes, the Spaniard limped off the field and grabbed his thigh.
This means that Thiago will probably only be available to the Reds again in September. As a result, he missed, among other things, the prestige duel against Manchester United on August 22nd.
For coach Jürgen Klopp, Thiago’s failure is a heavy loss, after all, Liverpool’s hospital now consists of seven players. Those include two potential alternatives to Thiago in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones.
It is possible that the experienced James Milner (36) in central midfield will have more time than expected.
