Liverpool FC are intensifying their courtship of attacker Darwin Nunez from Benfica and, according to information from SPOX and GOAL, are confident of being able to guide the 22-year-old Uruguayan to England.

The Reds are ready to pay the equivalent of around 88 million euros. This would be Nunez’s new record transfer from the English runners-up.

Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 competitive games for last season and has been linked with numerous top clubs in recent years, including Bayern. The Portuguese club are ready to let the player go for a similar offer in the summer.

Nunez is set to succeed Sadio Mane at Anfield. Although Liverpool have already turned down two offers from Bayern Munich, including one branded “ridiculous” by decision-makers with just €27.5m in guarantees and hard-to-reach bonuses, it is expected that an agreement will be reached soon and Mane is allowed to move to Munich.

The club around coach Jürgen Klopp is demanding around 47 million euros, and a Mane sale should only be approved as soon as a successor for the Senegalese has been found. Those responsible are already working with Nunez on a major solution.
