Manchester United apparently withdraws contract that has already been signed

Manchester United have apparently alienated their longtime goalkeeper David de Gea after lengthy contract negotiations.

David de Gea (32) has a report from The Athletic reportedly signed a new contract with Manchester United. However, the club is said to have subsequently withdrawn the offer.

De Gea’s contract expires on June 30 and after lengthy negotiations, both sides had agreed on a new deal that would have included a drastic reduction in his salary from around €436,000 a week. But the club did not sign the contract itself.

The report goes on to say that United have already made a new offer to de Gea, which is said to include an even lower salary. And de Gea has not yet agreed to this offer and should now think about other options.

Discussions between the two parties are ongoing, but de Gea is also said to be interested in Saudi Arabia. United, in turn, are also said to be considering alternatives, with both Milan’s Andre Onana and ex-United keeper Dean Henderson (Nottingham Forest) being possible alternatives.

De Gea has played for United since moving from Atlético Madrid for 25 million euros in 2011 and won a championship, one FA Cup and one Europa League with the Red Devils, among other things. In all, he has played 545 times between the posts for United and kept 190 clean sheets.
