Manchester United approach according to information from SPOX and GOAL reached an agreement with FC Barcelona regarding the transfer of midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Negotiations between the two clubs are now well advanced and United are confident that Barca want to sell the 25-year-old Dutchman. Although an initial offer of around 59 million euros was rejected, a compromise is now getting closer and closer.
United should be awarded the contract for a fee of between 74 and 85 million euros. Barca paid Ajax €86m for De Jong in 2019.
In Amsterdam, United’s new manager Erik ten Hag had been a great supporter of De Jong. The manager therefore also plays a major role in the Netherlands international’s decision to join the Red Devils despite not being in the Champions League this coming season.
De Jong has made 138 competitive appearances for Barcelona in three years (12 goals, 17 assists). His contract with the Catalans is valid until 2026.
