Manchester United: Qatar apparently interested in buying

Should Qatar actually buy Manchester United, PSG are apparently expecting catastrophic consequences.

A report by the French L’Equipe According to Paris, catastrophic consequences are expected if donors from Qatar should take over the top English club Manchester United after PSG. Accordingly, the camp around PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to believe that further growth with Paris Saint-Germain could be limited as the club only plays in Ligue 1. The Red Devils, on the other hand, would have much more potential in the Premier League, which is why most of the Qatari money could flow to Manchester instead of the French capital.

At PSG, not least because of the expensive star players like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Neymar, losses of 200 million euros per year are already expected, which would not be sustainable in the long term. Should Qatar prefer to invest in Manchester and turn off PSG, this would of course have serious consequences for the club in the capital.

Manchester United is said to be available for the equivalent of 6.8 billion euros, and in this context numerous people and companies have been said to be interested in the English record champions, including Tesla founder Elon Musk.

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is said to be particularly interested in a purchase and have a good chance of taking over the club. Paris Saint-Germain is owned by QSI (Qatar Sports Investments), a subsidiary of QIA.

The Glazer family, who currently own ManUnited, have set a deadline for those interested which expires on Friday. The negotiations could then become more concrete. If QIA is actually awarded the contract, this should have long-term effects on PSG’s financial situation. For the time being, however, it remains to be seen whether such a development will actually occur.
