Cristiano Ronaldo has criticized the media for reporting about him. The star striker of the English record champions Manchester United accused them via Instagram of telling the untruth.
In a comment on a post by user cr7.o_lendario, Ronaldo wrote: “In a few weeks you will know the truth when I do an interview. The media spread lies.”
“I have a notebook with the 100 news items I’ve appeared in over the last few months, only five of which were correct. Imagine that and remember that,” the 37-year-old continues.
Ronaldo has been the focus of change speculation for weeks. According to information from SPOX and GOAL he wants to leave the ailing Man United to compete in the Champions League this season. The Red Devils can now imagine a premature departure of the striker, who is still tied until 2023.
Ronaldo had missed large parts of United’s pre-season due to “family matters”. He came on as a substitute at the start of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion (1-2) and was back in the starting lineup for the 4-0 humiliation at Brentford at the weekend.
Ronaldo’s behavior after the final whistle in Brentford also made headlines. He didn’t go to the guest fans, but disappeared into the catacombs as the first guest player. He didn’t look at team manager Erik ten Hag.
