Officially! Mahmoud Dahoud joins Brighton & Hove Albion

Mahmoud Dahoud moved from BVB to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League. The Seagulls officially announced this on Friday.

Dahoud’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expires, his transfer is free of charge. At Brighton he signed until 2027.

BVB had already announced in February that the contract with the 27-year-old would not be extended. Clubs from Europe’s top leagues are said to have been interested in the midfielder, but surprise Premier League side Brighton won the race.

Dahoud is said to have been coach Roberto De Zerbi’s preferred candidate.

Dahoud comes from the youth of Fortuna Düsseldorf. He made his breakthrough at Borussia Mönchengladbach and switched to Dortmund in 2017 for twelve million.

Under coach Edin Terzic, Dahoud only made nine league appearances for BVB last season, four of them in the starting XI. He made his last appearance in the black and yellow jersey in early April in the 4-2 away defeat at FC Bayern.
