Leaders FC Arsenal have won again in the Premier League and have extended their lead for the time being. Team manager Mikel Arteta’s team defeated the ailing Crystal Palace 4-1 (2-0) three days after being eliminated in the round of 16 of the Europa League.
For the Primus it was the sixth win in a row in the league, Palace is still waiting for a win in 2023.
Gabriel Martinelli (28th), who missed the decisive penalty in the loss against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday (4:5 penalties), gave the Gunners the lead. Bukayo Saka (43′) increased before the break, former Gladbach player Granit Xhaka (55′) made the early decision. Jeffrey Schlupp (63′) made the cut for Palace, who had previously gone four games without a goal, before Saka (74′) scored again.
Arsenal say goodbye to the international break with an eight-point cushion over pursuers Manchester City. City were away from action in the league due to the FA Cup quarter-finals at the weekend and have played a game in hand.
