Premier League: Arsenal extend their lead again

England’s leaders FC Arsenal did not show any weaknesses in the Premier League and increased their lead over champions Manchester City again.

With an unchallenged 3-0 (3-0) at newly promoted Fulham, the Gunners built their cushion back up to five points. City had previously moved up to the top of the league with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday night.

Central defender Gabriel (21′) with a header as well as youngsters Gabriel Martinelli (26′) and Martin Ödegaard (45′ + 2′) made things clear even before the break. Fulham, who played with German goalkeeper Bernd Leno, are ninth despite the defeat and are far from the relegation zone.

Record champions Manchester United, on the other hand, suffered another setback. A week after the 7-0 debacle against Liverpool, the Red Devils were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom side Southampton.

The red card against Casemiro (34th) was a blow to the neck. The star midfielder has been sent off for gross foul play after video evidence and as it is the Brazilian’s second sending off this season, he is likely to be absent from Man United for some time.

Casemiro flew into his opponent with his leg stretched out. He hit the ball, but also Carlos Alcaraz’s shin.

Manchester United are still in third place, albeit eleven points behind the top duo.
