Rise with Hollywood support: The traditional Welsh club Wrexham AFC are back in English professional football.

The club, which was officially acquired by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in February 2021, defeated Boreham Wood FC 3-1 on Matchday 45 of the fifth tier National League to move one matchday before the end of the regular season one thing for sure.

With 110 points, the club, founded in 1864, just leaves its competitor Notts County (106) behind. The team has only suffered three defeats in their 45 games so far, making their return to professional football perfect after 15 years.

The takeover by Reynolds and McElhenney was decided in November 2020 by a large majority of the club members with voting rights, and the official purchase took place in 2021 for the equivalent of almost 2.8 million euros.
