The two team managers Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte received penalties after their clashes in the derby between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur (2-2). Tuchel received a one-game ban, which is initially suspended until an independent commission has justified it in writing.
This means that Tuchel could be on the sidelines for Chelsea’s away game at Leeds United at the weekend. This was confirmed by the English Football Association on Friday.
Alongside the ban, the German faces a £35,000 (€41,300) fine compared to Conte’s £15,000 (€17,700) penalty. The team managers can appeal the penalty.
According to the FA, both “admitted that their behavior after the final whistle was inappropriate”. Tuchel and the Italian Conte had two heated arguments on the sidelines of the league game on Sunday evening and were sent off with red cards after the final whistle. On Monday, the FA indicted both.
