Thomas Tuchel would like to bring his ex-protégé Mason Mount from Chelsea to Bayern Munich. That reports the Times citing their own information.
The FCB therefore plans to capitalize on Mount’s contract situation and bring him to the Isar in the summer.
The England international’s working paper expires in 2024. So far, the talks about an extension have been unsuccessful and there are now increasing signs that Mounts is leaving. He recently changed his advisor and is now being represented by Neil Fewings. Obviously with the motivation to find a new club.
In the case of a transfer a year before the end of the contract, Chelsea should be loud Times a transfer fee of 50 million pounds (about 57 million euros) for the England international. There should definitely be a willingness to talk at Stamford Bridge, after all it became known this week that the Blues have to generate high income through sales in order to comply with the rules of Financial Fair Play.
Top English clubs in particular have repeatedly been associated with Mount in recent weeks. Liverpool FC, who want to rebuild their midfield in the summer, are said to have kept an eye on the powerful midfielder. Manchester United was also mentioned.
An interest from Bayern would be piquant, after all, the Reds are currently planning to hire assistant coach Anthony Barry, who should follow Tuchel to Säbener Straße. This should not go down well in London.
Mason Mount is currently not a regular at Chelsea
Mount has been at Chelsea since 2005 and is a real homegrown. After successful loan deals to Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County, he made the leap to the professional squad at Chelsea in 2019. When he won the Champions League two years later, he was one of Thomas Tuchel’s key players.
Things are not going well for the 24-year-old this season. He only played the full 90 minutes in seven of his 23 Premier League appearances. Mount scored three goals and provided two assists. At the World Cup in Qatar, he played four games for the Three Lions.
He is currently suffering from a pelvic injury that has cost him the last four games and also made it impossible for the national team to play in the international break.
