Antonio Conte has left Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with coach Antonio Conte. This was announced by the London club late on Sunday evening.

“We can announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual consent,” Spurs said in a statement.

It continued: “We qualified for the Champions League in Antonio’s first season at the club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”

The previous assistant coach Cristian Stellini will take over as interim coach until the end of the season, Ryan Mason will be his assistant coach.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy also said: “We have ten Premier League games left and we have to fight for a place in the Champions League. We all have to pull ourselves together now. Everyone has to do their best now to get the best possible placement for our club and our amazing loyal fans.”

Tottenham Hotspur fears for the Champions League

Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League, two points ahead of Newcastle and one behind Manchester United. However, Tottenham has already played two games more than both opponents.

Conte took over as coach at Tottenham in November 2021 and coached 78 games for Spurs with a points average of 1.78. Most recently, he had caused a stir with an angry speech and apparently provoked his expulsion.

Thomas Tuchel had already been traded as Conte’s successor in the past few days, and after his appointment as FC Bayern coach, the name Julian Nagelsmann was also traded. This is now free, but would probably cost a fee as he is currently on leave at Bayern Munich.
