3rd league: Bankruptcies for Dresden and BVB

Newly promoted SV Elversberg remains the surprise team in the 3rd division and, with twelve points, is second in the table behind leaders 1860 Munich (15 points). On Saturday, the Elversbergers, sensational winners in the DFB Cup against Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen (4: 3), won 3: 2 (2: 1) at second division Dynamo Dresden.

Marcel Correia (4th/61st) and Luca Schnellbacher (20th) scored for the Saarlanders. Ahmet Arslan (40’/90’+2) scored the connecting goals for the Saxons.

Promoted Rot-Weiss Essen missed their first win of the season despite a 2-0 lead after beating FC Ingolstadt 2-2 (2-0). Felix Bastians (9th, penalty kick) and Simon Engelmann (32nd) scored for the former Bundesliga club from Essen. Tobias Bech (84./88) saved the Schanzer a point with his brace.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden and VfL Osnabrück separated 1:1 (0:0). Waldhof Mannheim prevailed against Borussia Dortmund II 2:1 (0:1). After the last three wins, Viktoria Köln lost 1-0 (0-1) at SC Freiburg II.
