With a win in the top game, 1. FC Saarbrücken kept their chances of promotion on Friday. Coach Rüdiger Ziehl’s team defeated Dynamo Dresden 2-0 (2-0) and surpassed the Saxons in the table. Saarbrücken is now fourth, Dresden is right behind in fifth place. Both have 56 points on the account.
In the relegation battle, promoted VfB Oldenburg scored three important points with a 2-0 (2-0) win at FC Ingolstadt. SpVgg Bayreuth, also a newcomer and in danger of relegation, lost 0:1 (0:1) to Hallesches FC.
Halles Tunay Deniz saw the yellow-red card for unsportsmanlike behavior (80th). Borussia Dortmund II won 1-0 (0-0) against bottom team SV Meppen. Second division relegated Erzgebirge Aue lost to SC Verl 2:3 (0:1).
