VfB Oldenburg is about to return to professional football after 25 years. The champions of the Regionalliga Nord won the relegation first leg to the 3rd division at the favored Northeast champions BFC Dynamo in Berlin on Saturday 2-0 (1-0). The decision will be made in the second leg on July 4th.
Oldenburg’s Robert Zietarski was the man of the game in front of 5000 spectators.
The midfielder scored both goals (27th/79th) to the delight of the 600 VfB fans who had traveled with them.
“We were really well prepared for the opponent and knew what to expect,” said VfB captain Max Wegner NDR: “It feels good, but nothing is won yet.”
