As the club announced on Monday before the start of training, the successful coach has extended his contract by one year until 2024. “This is a very happy message to start the new season,” said managing director Christian Keller: “We have deliberately extended by a year, although we are all aiming for a longer cooperation.”
They now want to talk about further cooperation on an annual basis, Keller added: “We were guided by a positive example that has been a role model for years.” Baumgart’s contract was originally valid until the summer of 2023.
“Even though I’ve signed until 2024 and can well imagine staying with FC beyond that, I’ll stick to my path and continue to plan from season to season,” said Baumgart: “It’s my goal to keep FC as possible good to support his long-term goals of developing the team and our football.”
Baumgart led FC to seventh place last season and thus to the Conference League. “This project is not over yet, we have goals and we want to achieve them,” said the 50-year-old on Monday: “We also want to get out of the difficult times that we are going through as a club together. We didn’t talk long, we agreed relatively quickly.”
