The great days of 1860 Munich are long gone. Today’s third division team last played in the Bundesliga from 1994 to 2004. SPOX looks back on the eleven that had to go into the second division on the 34th day of the 2003/04 season.

In October 2003 there was still little to indicate that the lions would be in danger of relegation. The Benjamin Lauth scored the Sixth on matchday 9 against Frankfurt in the 90th minute for a 1-0 win and thus eighth place.

The TSV stayed there until the beginning of December, before the crash followed: From the 12th match day, the lions won only three games until the end of the season, in the last eight games the Giesinger only collected two points.

So it happened that 1860 had to win at Borussia Mönchengladbach on matchday 34 in order to still have a small chance of staying up in the league. In addition, one was dependent on a defeat of 1. FC Kaiserslautern against BVB.
