Felix Magath commented on the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich and in this context criticized the 35-year-old. The former coach accuses Thomas Tuchel’s predecessor of underestimating the situation at the record champions.

“The sentence has been repeated many times – and Uli Hoeneß has the copyright to it: ‘If someone goes to FC Bayern, then they have to know what they did.’ And the last coach before Thomas Tuchel was signed didn’t fully internalize what he did when he went to Bayern,” Magath said sports picture.

Nagelsmann apparently believed that Hoffenheim, Leipzig and Bayern were all in the same league, the former FCB coach explained: “But that’s not the case. Bayern is firmly established in world football. That’s why the approach to the club and the situation was not appropriate.”

After the winter break, Nagelsmann’s team “got something wrong,” said Magath: “There were difficulties keeping the team happy. For me, the team wasn’t managed well enough and after the World Cup – viewed from the outside – not traveling with the necessary fitness and discipline.”

In the second half of the season, Bayern lost a clear lead over the competition. After the defeat against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, Nagelsmann had to vacate the coaching chair.
