This Friday, May 5th, two games will take place in the Bundesliga. This doesn’t happen often and it wasn’t planned that way. Originally only the game between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 was supposed to take place today, but the encounter between Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln was brought forward.
The German Football League (DFL) has granted Leverkusen’s request to cancel the game from Sunday to Friday. The reason given by the Werkself for the postponement was a longer regeneration period for the important first leg in the Europa League semifinals against AS Roma, which takes place on May 11th.
Now it’s already happening today to the Rhenish Derby. Kick-off in the BayArena, Leverkusen, is at 8.30 p.m.

With the change of date, nothing has changed in the rights situation for the derby between Leverkusen and Cologne DAZN broadcasts both the Sunday and Friday Bundesliga games.
