Assistant coach Anthony Barry raved about Thomas Tuchel and talked about his goals with Bayern Munich.

“I admired Thomas from the start. We have many parallels – how we work and how we see football. We try to push each other and improve,” the former England professional is quoted as saying on the FC Bayern website .

His relationship with Tuchel, who wanted Barry on his team as soon as possible after signing in Munich, is “very respectful and friendly”.

The German record champions had tough negotiations with Chelsea to free Barry. “We fought long and hard,” said Tuchel at the end of April after the 36-year-old’s arrival.

At Säbener Straße, Barry is primarily responsible for the standards. “As a top team, you also have to be top with set pieces. It’s an important area for us to work on.”

Barry wants to take the next step after coaching stints at Wigan Athletic, Chelsea and the Portuguese and Belgian national teams. “We’re here to win. That’s the goal when you come to Bayern Munich. It’s a big club with a big history. I’m very happy and proud to be here,” he explained.
